Mary Uduk is currently the Acting Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria. Prior to this, she was at various times the Head of Internal Control, Financial Standards & Corporate Governance, Investment Management and Securities & Investment Services Departments of the Commission.
Her career as a regulator began in 1986 and has spanned many functions from corporate finance, administration to providing regulatory structure and due diligence for capital market transactions. She served on various national and international committees such as the SEC/DMO Committee on Nigeria’s First Sovereign Debt Bond Issuance, the Technical Committee on Banking and Insurance Industries Consolidation, as well as the Technical Committee of the West African Capital Market Integration Council (WACMIC).
Mary holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Business School, Netherlands respectively. She has been a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Centre for Corporate Governance since 2016. She is a 2009 Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and has attended various executive/management programmes including, Securitization and Housing Finance at Wharton Business School, International Borrowing and Debt Management at the International Law Institute, Washington D.C., and On-The-Job Training at British Columbia Securities Commission, Vancouver, Canada.
