Lead Consultant at The Cobalt Partners
Throughout her career, Aarti has helped clients define the problems they want to address, particularly where disparate stakeholders are involved or earlier attempts have failed and brought about holistic, sustainable solutions. Aarti is currently a consultant for The Cobalt Partners, engaging with public, private and third sectors on strategy, operations and technology. She also advises corporations looking to enter or expand in the emerging markets and helps them understand the environment through market intelligence and stakeholder meetings.
Aarti constantly looks to resolve stubborn problems, such as SME development, boosting intra-African trade or enabling long-term savings and investments culture. She fully understands the traditional challenges from both the supply- and demand-side perspective, and also looks for solutions that have already been deployed in any one jurisdiction that could be applicable in others.
Prior to joining Cobalt, Aarti was with Thomson Reuters globally for 24 years, most recently as head of government relations for Africa from 2013 to 2016. During this time, Aarti engaged the public sector in the areas of attracting investment, facilitating trade, developing the financial sector, managing natural resources and public finances (reducing illicit financial flows, managing debt and the domestic currency, increasing revenues), strengthening the rule of law and driving innovation.
In September 2019, Aarti was the master of ceremony at the Africa investor Sovereign Wealth and Pension Fund summit, which discussed catalyzing investment into infrastructure in Africa. She speaks and writes on twenty-first-century themes impacting governments and businesses:
She has a degree in French and Computer Science from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom.
